City, Google, Partner to Put Local Businesses "On the Map"

September 25, 2015 |

“Let’s Put our Cities on the Map,” is a new initiative from the minds of Google, to give businesses an edge by getting their listings online through Google Search and Google Maps. The City of Garden Grove has partnered with Google to encourage local businesses to participate in the program to create or improve their online presence. The City will host a free Google workshop to explain the program and help participants develop a free Google business listing on site. The workshop takes place on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 6:00 p.m., in the Garden Grove Courtyard Center, located in Village Green park, at 12732 Main Street.

“More than ever, people are looking for what they need online, and one of the first places they go to is Google Search. Helping our local businesses, especially small businesses, get their listing online, creates important advantages for both businesses and customers,” says Garden Grove Mayor Bao Nguyen.

Workshop participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops to go through the steps of creating their own Google business listing, or improve an existing one. Participants must have a valid Garden Grove business license on file with the City. Refreshments and Google giveaways will be available.

The Google listing is free. Participants who choose to create a Google business website receive free website hosting for one year.
