Get ready to experience holiday sights, sounds, and activities at this year’s Winter in the Grove, where Winterfest and Christmas Tree Lighting come together into one event. The free event takes place on Saturday, December 1, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Village Green Park, 12732 Main Street.
Activities at the event include a children craft area, holiday refreshments, letters to Santa, balloon animal artist, bounce houses, and eight snow slides made of over 40 tons of snow. Unlimited snow slides are $5 for a wrist band. Wrist bands can be pre-purchased online at ReGGister or the day-of at the event.
Food will be available for purchase from local non-profits. The Boy Scouts of America Troop 270 will be selling “chilly dogs,” Fundación Jalisco USA will be selling tamales, and Buena Clinton’s Concilio de Padres will be selling pan dulce and coffee. C & M will be selling kettle corn and lemonade. Free hot cocoa, provided by Kiwanis of Greater Garden Grove, and cookies, donated by 7-Eleven, will be available.
Pre-show entertainment begins at 5:00 p.m., provided by Saint Columban School. The 5:30 p.m. program line-up includes performances by the Learning Spot; Christ Cathedral Academy Advance Choir; Trinity Christian School; the Voice of Garden Grove 2018 runner-up, Jessica Torres; Foundations Dance Company; and Bolsa Grande High School Concert Choir.
After the performances, the Garden Grove City Council will light the 24-foot Christmas tree. The event culminates with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
