City Announces Passing of Former Garden Grove Mayor Bill Dalton

March 23, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former Garden Grove Mayor Bill Dalton. Serving the City of Garden Grove for 40 years, 26 years with the Garden Grove Police Department, and 14 years as a Garden Grove City Council Member and mayor, Dalton worked tirelessly towards enhancing the quality-of-life in the community he held so dear. During his illustrious career with the Garden Grove Police Department, he earned a Medal of Valor, the highest award an officer can receive. He is credited with ushering in a new era for Harbor Boulevard, now known as the Grove District-Anaheim Resort.

The City of Garden Grove was blessed to have Bill Dalton as a member of this community for 54 years, and will always remember his kindness, courage, and leadership.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandy, five children, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the Garden Grove City Council will adjourn the Garden Grove City Council meeting in Dalton's honor.
