To add some perspective on the difficulties this is adding to the lives of the neighbors of this project, Tuesday afternoon one of the construction vehicle collided with my parked truck in the street. Only Minor damage. Yesterday(Thursday 10-8-2020) I found that part of the cinder block wall dividing our properties has been knocked down on top of my boat stored in my back yard. No one came to confess to the action or even mention the incident. There is no sign of who the builder is. No one was on site all day yesterday (10-8-2020). Hoping to have a discussion about the damages. So far, no one on-site again today(10-9-2020). Can you refer me to the builder for discussion of damages to my property?

Thanks again,
It appears the former patio area of the current structure is being framed in to create more living spaces. I believe this falls under the JADU? Which, if I am not mistaken, does require the owner to be resident, which he has NEVER been since his purchase of the property. I swear it is like living next to a motel without the benefit of adequate parking. I see in the new laws that, if the residence is within .5 miles of public transportation, adequate parking is not a requirement. Hard to believe anyone found that acceptable . . . It is "Not Community Development". This is Community Destruction.

Good morning,

We can investigate the report of individual rooms being rented but you may review the City guidelines and state law which allow ADU's within the R-1 zone through the following links:

Thank you,

thanks again,
I am sorry but I can't accept that this has to be allowed and nothing can be done about it. Can you provide access to this directive "mandate" that forces the suffering of many long time residents for the financial benefit of a non-local, non-resident? Where can I review this mandate?
Thanks
Dennis Neil

ADU is an Accessory Dwelling Unit. Here is more information on ADUs https://www.hcd.ca.gov/policy-research/accessorydwellingunits.shtml

This is a state mandate and cities throughout California are legally obligated to approve these types of structures.

Thank you very much Pete,

I am very sorry but what is an "ADU"?

I imagine an adu is a auxiliary building of some sort?
Are there no requirements to acquire a permit to build an adu?
Meanin, doesn't the owner owner or owners family need to be the resident?
I know some time ago a resident would have had to acquire the consent of the surrounding neighbors before beginning this type of construction. Apparently this is no longer the case? And The owner doesn't need to be the resident? Or at least some part of the owners family?
Just an earlier than expected step towards the already declining living condition in this neighborhood.
Lived here all my life. So sad to see it be allowed to go this way 😢

Thanks again,
Dennis Neil

There are valid permits on file for an ADU. ADUs are allowed per state mandates.

looks like they are breaking ground today. Digging for services (water, gas?) And laying out to dig for foundation. Looks like this is really going to happen...

seriously, it is already like living next to a motel. Is he seriously going to be allowed to add additional rooms to the motel?

anything? Does he even have a permit? They put up a port-a-potty in the front yard yesterday. . . I guess this is really happening, legal or not. And we get to enjoy the port-o-potty in the front yard for the duration of the construction? Can't we at least force them to put the port-o-potty in the back yard?
