Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion Project Breaks Ground
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the City of Garden Grove, along with architect David Volz Design, construction management Z&K Consultants, Inc., and contractor Act 1 Construction, Inc., celebrated the groundbreaking for the Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion Project, commemorating the start of construction to one of Garden Grove’s existing recreational spaces. The expanded 3.8-acre park will create a safer and more engaging space for families with a full remodel of this neighborhood park.
“For many longtime residents, this space holds a special place in their hearts, filled with nostalgia and fond memories of growing up and playing right here in this park. Now, with this exciting transformation, we’re honoring that history while creating opportunities for future generations to make memories of their own,” said Garden Grove Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein.
The Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion design is reflective of community input garnered through several multilingual community meetings hosted by the City’s Community Services Department from 2019 to 2021. In collaboration with the Garden Grove Unified School District, parents and students from the surrounding area also contributed to the development of the plan. The final design features two playground areas, a recreational swimming pool, a pool house building, a skate plaza, basketball courts, a walking trail, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic shelters, restrooms, a parking lot, and park lighting.
The Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion is a part of the City’s Parks, Recreation & Facilities Master Plan. The $11 million project is funded in part by the 2018 Park Bond Act Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant, which supports underserved communities across the state.
Construction for the Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion Project is tentatively scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
