Free Compost Giveaway to Garden Grove Residents
On Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the Garden Grove Sanitary District, in collaboration with Republic Services, will host the annual Compost Giveaway, offering residents up to 60 gallons of nutrient-rich compost for free. The event will be held at the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center, located at 13802 Newhope Street. The event is open to Garden Grove residents only. Proof of residency is required.
The distribution will be held in the center’s parking lot on a first-come, first-serve basis. Vehicles must enter from A Better Way, accessible from Anabel Street, north of the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center. Due to the popularity of the free event, residents should expect long lines.
Residents must bring their own containers or buckets and are limited to 60 gallons per vehicle. Bags are not permitted.
The annual Compost Giveaway is one way the Garden Grove Sanitary District and Republic Services thank the community for participating in the state-mandated Organics Recycling program, enabling residents and businesses to recycle all food waste, food-soiled paper, and yard waste in their organics cart.
