Garden Grove Offering Free Disaster Preparedness Training
The City of Garden Grove’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will offer a free 20-hour workshop to train individuals to prepare for and recover from disasters, as well as learn various life-saving skills. The program will be held on Thursdays, February 8, February 15, February 22, and Saturday, February 24. Class will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. To register and for class location, visit www.ggcity.org/cert or email lmorin@ggcity.org. The deadline to register is Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Training will include basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
After completing the 20-hour workshop, participants will be recognized as program graduates and sworn-in as Disaster Service Workers. A certificate of completion and CERT T-shirt will be given to program graduates.
Participants must be 18 years and over, and live or work in Garden Grove.
