City to Hold Dedication for Off-Duty Police Officer Killed in Motorcycle Accident
On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, the Garden Grove City Council and the Garden Grove Police Department will honor Garden Grove Police Corporal Han Cho with a plaque dedication and unveiling. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m., at the west entrance of the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, at 11300 Stanford Avenue.
Corporal Cho was tragically killed during an off-duty motorcycle accident on Monday, August 7, on his way back from work as a Garden Grove Police officer. He served the City of Garden Grove for 28 years.
Corporal Cho began his career with the Garden Grove Police Department in 1995 as a police recruit. During his career, he worked a variety of assignments that included patrol, Gang Suppression Unit, Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT), Hostage Negotiation Team, Neighborhood Traffic Unit, and as a field training officer. He rose to the rank of master officer in 2006, then to corporal in 2022. Han was a triathlete who enjoyed, running, swimming, biking, and completed numerous marathons. He is survived by his two children, parents, two sisters, a brother, and a niece.
Included in the program will be remarks by Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones, Garden Grove Police Chief Amir El-Farra, and sister of the late Corporal Han Cho.
