About

The Garden Grove Teen Action Collaborative (GGTAC) is a teen leadership program that empowers teens to become future mentors and leaders in the community through teamwork, community partnerships, and community service---all within a fun and friendly atmosphere! GGTAC serves as a teen hub for resources from a collaboration of local agencies that is designed by and for Garden Grove teens. With guidance from City staff, teens will have a better understanding of career development and mentorship, while also meeting new people, creating new friendships, and making a difference in Garden Grove!

Meeting Schedule

GGTAC meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Community Meeting Center (11300 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove, 92840). Food is provided at every meeting. Meeting dates for the 2024-2025 school year are as follows:

2024

  • September 19
    Room B: GGTAC invites all Garden Grove teens ages 13-17 to our first meeting of the school year. Meeting will include information about the program and a general idea of what to expect.
  • October 17
    Room B: TBD - Meeting will follow with a fun game.
  • November 21
    Room A: Learn about a career in the Fire Service and see what it takes to become a Fire Fighter. With the help of OCFA, you will learn who is the best fit for this fast paced career and the education needed to pursue a career in public service.
  • December 19
    Room B: Spend a day celebrating the holiday season with all your GGTAC friends. The meeting will include fun activities and snacks before you leave for Winter Break.

2025

  • January 16
    Room B: Explore the world of Fashion Design & Merchandising. Department instructors from Orange Coast College (OCC) will join us to talk about careers in the Fashion World.
  • February 20
    Room B: Are you ready to work? Learn all about what it takes to get a job. From application to interview the City of Garden Grove Human Resources will help you get noticed when you are ready to join the workforce.

  • May 13
    Room B: Join us for our final meeting banquet and ceremony. We will be awarding all participants and announcing the GGTAC Scholarship Winners. Parents are welcome!

  • Jack O’ Lantern Jamboree
    Saturday, October 26, 2024 | 12PM-4:30PM | Atlantis Play Center, 13630 Atlantis Way, Garden Grove, 92844
    Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree is a popular annual event hosted by the City of Garden Grove. This event will have obstacle courses, a pumpkin patch, face painting, a trackless train, and much more. GGTAC members will have the opportunity to help run carnival games, collect tickets, assist vendors, and more. Lunch will be provided.

  • Clothes Collection and Organization for Distribution with Assistance League of Garden Grove
    Friday, November 8, 2024 | 9:00AM-1PM | Assistance League of GG, 10932 Trask Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92843
    The Assistance League of Garden Grove provides low-cost dental care, clothing, and shoes to children from low-income families in the Garden Grove area. GGTAC volunteers will assist with the collection and organization of clothes donations that will reach the hand of families in Garden Grove. Lunch will be provided.

  • Food Prep and Packaging at Bracken’s Kitchen
    Monday, November 25, 2024 | 8:30AM-1PM | Bracken’s Kitchen, 13941 Nautilus Dr, Garden Grove, 92843
    GGTAC members will learn about the importance of food recovery, community feeding programs, and culinary training, by assisting in the food preparation and packaging at Bracken's Kitchen. Some food allergies can be accommodated. Lunch will be provided.

  • Winter in the Grove
    Saturday, December 7, 2024 | 2:30PM-7:30PM | Village Green Park, 12732 Main Street, Garden Grove 92840
    This fun, holiday event will feature live performances, inflatable activities for children, a holiday craft boutique, 50 tons of snow to create snow slides, a spectacular tree-lighting, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! Dinner will be provided.

  • Giving Farm with Community Action Partnership
    Friday, February 14, 2025 | 9AM-12PM | The Giving Farm, 14325 Goldenwest St, Westminster, 92683
    Every person that volunteers with The Giving Farm will be an empowering force to helping change our community. Volunteers will be working on an 8-acre farm supporting the day-to-day operations such as planting, weeding, and harvesting to help in providing approximately 200,000 pounds of produce annually to our community members most in need. Lunch will be provided.

  • Art in the Park

    Art in the Park is a collaborative event with the Garden Grove Unified School District. It give students the opportunity to showcase their art while also exploring their artistic abilities. Lunch will be provided.

  • Eggscavation
    Saturday, April 19, 2025 | 12PM-4:30PM | Atlantis Play Center, 13630 Atlantis Way, Garden Grove, 92844
    Eggscavation is a popular annual event hosted by the City of Garden Grove. This event will have obstacle courses, a petting zoo, crafts and much more. GGTAC members will have the opportunity to help run carnival games, collect tickets, assist vendors, and more. Lunch will be provided.

  • Beach Cleanup
    TBD | 9 AM-2PM | Huntington Beach (Brookhurst Berm Ramadas), Brookhurst St &PCH
    This GGTAC exclusive event will start with a beach cleanup followed by lunch and finish with fun activities. Transportation will be provided for the first 12 participants to sign-up. Drop-off is also an option. Lunch will be provided.

  • Strawberry Stomp 5K (Hours will not be counted towards Scholarship)
    Saturday, May 24, 2025 | 6:30AM-10AM | Village Green Park, 12732 Main Street, Garden Grove, 92840
    The annual Strawberry Stomp 5K event provides individuals and families the unique opportunity to run/walk the Strawberry Festival Parade route, preceding the parade.

  • Must be a member of GGTAC with current 2024-2025 application submitted

  • Volunteer at GGTAC sponsored opportunities

  • Download “remind” app in Google Play or Apple App store
  • Create profile:
    • Select yourself as a “Student” or “Parent”
    • If you are a Parent, please include your child’s name in your profile name. (i.e. “Mary Smith – Joe Smith parent”)

  • That’s it! Upon approval, you are now part of the GGTAC class!

There will be no parent to parent communication or participant to participant communication. Any replies to messages will be seen by the GGTAC Administration.
